Tall Ships Weekend in Greenport - July 8th through July 11th
The Tall Ships Challenge® is an annual series of sail training races, rallies, cruises and port festivals organized by The American Sail Training Association, in conjunction with host ports along the Atlantic Coast of the United States and Canada.
From July 8 through July 11, The Village of Greenport will be host to more than seven tall ships and crews from around the world. In honor of their visit, the village, in conjunction with the East End Seaport Museum and numerous local sponsors, will present an array of activities that will be fun for the whole family.

The following tall ships will participate:

Cisne Branco, Brazil:
Cisne Branco means "white swan" in Portuguese, which is appropriate for this towering beauty of the sea. The 249-foot tall ship hails from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
|

Capitan Miranda, Uruguay:
The 205-foot Capitan Miranda, built in Spain in 1930, was originally used as a cargo ship. Later, the Uruguayan navy used the vessel to conduct hydrographic surveys.
|

Bluenose II, Nova Scotia:
Built by hand, the first Bluenose was the most famous sailing ship in Canada. You may have seen this ship featured on the Canadian dime. Sadly, it was lost to a storm somewhere in the Caribbean in 1942. In 1963, the Bluenose II was built by hand in Lunenburg as a tribute to her predecessor.
|

Tenacious, United Kingdom:
The Tenacious, built in 2000 in Southampton, England, is truly accessible. The voyage crew is composed of people often with little or no experience at sea, all ages above sixteen, of all abilities and disabilities.
|

Pogoria, Poland:
The Pogoria was built in 1980 in Gdansk, for the Iron Shackle Fraternity, a sail training organization.
|

Iskra, Poland:
The Iskra is a training ship for the Polish Navy. |

Grand Nellie, USA - North Carolina:
|
| Local ships, featured during the event, include the schooner Lady Stirling, The Mary E, and Greenport's own electric launch, Glory. |
